David Furner

David Furner is an Australian rugby league coach and former player. He is the son of former Canberra Raiders and Australian Kangaroos coach, Don Furner. David Furner retired as the greatest point-scoring forward in Australian Rugby League history

Furner first attended a small primary school in the town of Queanbeyan, and then moved to St. Edmund's College, Canberra, where the school guided his talents in Rugby. This school has produced other talents as George Gregan, Ricky Stuart, Matt Giteau and Matt Henjak.

Amongst other achievements, Furner was part of the 1994 Canberra Raiders premiership team, winning the Clive Churchill Medal. In addition, Furner is the highest scoring forward in Australian rugby league premiership history. In 2000 he was awarded the Australian Sports Medal for his contribution to Australia's international standing in rugby legaue.
He has been offered and is shortly expected to sign a deal to coach Canberra raiders from the 2009 season.
