David Evans, Baron Evans of Watford

David Charles Evans, Baron Evans of Watford (born 30 November 1942) is a British trade unionist and businessman.
The son of Arthur Charles Evans and Phyllis Connie Evans, he was educated at Hampden Secondary School and at the Watford College of Technology. In 1957, he joined Stone and Cox Ltd first as apprentice printer then as sales executive and sales director. Evans founded Centurion Press in 1971, becoming its chairman and of its subsidiary companies in the United Kingdom, Netherlands and the U.S. in 2002. He is further chairman of Personnel Publications Ltd, Redactive Publishing Ltd and Senate Consulting Ltd, as well as of Senate Holdings bv, Indigo Publishing Ltd and TU Ink Ltd. Since 2001, he has been non-executive of Union Income Benefit Holdings plc. Evans is also non-executive director of Partnership Sourcing Ltd and of Hendon Museum Enterprises Ltd.
Evans is an Honorary Fellow of Cancer Research UK and chairman of the CT Spiral Scanner Appeal of Watford Hospital. He is a trustee of the Royal Air Force Museum and member of AMICUS. Evans was involved in the creation of One World group (now One World Action) and was voluntary lecturer for Postal Telegraph and Telephone International. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and of the City and Guilds of London Institute, as well as a Member of the Worshipful Company of Marketors. On 28 July 1998, he was made a life peer as Baron Evans of Watford, of Chipperfield in the County of Hertfordshire and sits for Labour.
Since 1966, he has been married to June Scaldwell. They have a daughter and a son.
