David Einhorn is the President and founder of Greenlight Capital, a long-short value-oriented hedge fund, which started with $1 million under management in 1996. Over the ensuing years, Greenlight has generated greater than a twenty-five percent annualized net return for its partners.

David Einhorn graduated summa cum laude with distinction in all subjects from Cornell University, where he earned a BA in Government from the College of Arts and Sciences in 1991.

In 2006, Einhorn placed 18th in the World Series of Poker, winning $659,730.[1]

Einhorn's grandfather suffered from Parkinson's disease.[1] Einhorn holds a seat on the board of the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.[2] Einhorn also serves on the board of directors of Hillel and Natan, as well as on the Leadership Council of the Robin Hood Foundation.
He donated his 2006 WSOP winnings to the foundation.[2]

In 2006, Einhorn built a 3.5 million-share position in subprime lender New Century, and won a seat on that company's board of directors.[2] He quit the board in the second week of March 2007.[2]

On April 8, 2008, he presented a talk entitled "Private Profits and Socialized Risk," at an event organized by Grant's Interest Rate Observer. This was summarized in an April 27, 2008, opinion piece by Ben Stein in the New York Times.
A review of his book "Fooling Some of the People All of the Time" was published in the Wall Street Journal on April 23, 2008.
