David Dyment

Dr. David Dyment is a Canadian researcher and lecturer. He studies the international activities of subnational governments, and the Canada-US relationship.

He was previously on the faculty of Carleton University in the Political Science Department. He has taught politics in French at the University of Ottawa where he is currently a research affiliate. He was Director of the Parliamentary Internship Programme of the Canadian Political Science Association. Dyment has been a commentator for CBC Newsworld, CTV Newsnet, Global TV, CBC Radio, Radio Canada, BBC World and Radio Canada International. He has also been interviewed for stories in a number of newspapers.

Dr. Dyment (born 1959) has worked in the federal government as a senior advisor in the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and at Government House on the staff of the Governor General of Canada.

His work has been published in Policy Options, Canadian Foreign Policy, Canadian Journal of Political Science, Études internationales, Regional and Federal Studies, Embassy, and the Toronto Star amongst other publications. He teaches courses on international relations, Canadian politics, and Canadian foreign policy.

Dyment has held several fellowships and scholarships and received his Ph.D. in political science from the Université de Montréal.
