David Brainerd Christian School (DBCS) is a non-denominational Christian College Prep School seeking students who desire the challenge of academic excellence in a loving, Christian environment and who can succeed in a traditional classroom setting. The school accepts approximately forty students for each grade, with admission based on character and academic ability.
In 1999, a study done by the nationally-respected firm Independent School Counsels confirmed the need for a new middle and high school in the Chattanooga area. Based on the results of the study, a number of families approached Brainerd Baptist School about the compelling need to provide programs to meet the needs of older students. As a direct result, Brainerd Baptist began offering sixth and seventh grade classes in portable buildings on their elementary school campus in the fall of 2000. As of September 2002, Brainerd Baptist decided to offer only those grades accommodated by their campus, K3-5th grade. To provide continuity for the Brainerd Baptist students, and to meet the continued community need for a Christian middle and high school, Brainerd Baptist provided the base to start a new middle and high school: David Brainerd Christian School.
