David Bishop was a fictional character in the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, played by Kevin Harrington. He first appeared in 1988 for his father Harold's (Ian Smith) wedding to his High School sweetheart Madge Ramsay (Anne Charleston). Fifteen years later in 2003, David returned to Erinsborough on a more permanent basis with his wife Liljana Bishop (Marcella Russo) and their daughter, Serena (Lara Sacher) in tow. The character remained on the show up until his death in 2005 following the Lassiter's joyflight disaster.

David was the eldest child of Harold and Mavis Bishop. David was every bit his father in terms of stature and principles.

David was first seen in the series in 1988 when he arrived to act as best man at Harold's marriage to Madge. David didn't take to her at first but later welcomed her by calling her "mother". During this brief visit to Erinsborough David tried to pursue relationships with Jane Harris, and with Prue who worked at Lassiters, but failed. Soon afterwards David returned to Adelaide. Later, David moved to Perth where he met Liljana Ristic, they married and they had a daughter called Serena.

In 1991 David was faced with tragedy when Madge called with the news that Harold had been swept out to sea. David briefly returned to Erinsborough to comfort Madge. Five years later, Harold was found alive and well after having suffered amnesia. Harold regained his memory but his relationship with David had dwindled to just exchanging Christmas cards.

In 2003 David and his family, along with and David's niece Sky Mangel (Stephanie McIntosh), came to stay with Harold at Number 24 while their new house in Eden Hills was being renovated. This dream was not to be as David was ripped off by former friend and adversary Thomas Morgan and left penniless. David and Liljana's marriage went through some testing times including Serena's involvement with sexual predator Chris Cousens, the constant interference from Liljana's mother Svetlanka (Deidre Rubenstein), the revelation that Liljana had a secret son Luka Dokic, and Liljana's affair with Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis).

Things got back on track in late 2005 when David, Liljana and Serena were included on a joyflight to celebrate Lassiter's 20th Anniversary along with Sky and several of their neighbours. The flight ended in tragedy when a planted bomb exploded on the plane, causing it to crash in Bass Strait. A few days later, David's body was found, but Liljana and Serena's were not. It was revealed months later that Robert Robinson had planted the bomb making Robert a murderer.
