David Atkins

David Atkins (born December 11, 1955 to Keith and Mary Atkins) is an Australian actor, dancer and choreographer.
A prominent figure in dance in the early 90's, Atkins created and performed in one of the first successful Australian musicals, Hot Shoe Shuffle, in 1993. The production later transferred to London's Queen's Theatre.
With Ignatius Jones, Atkins was appointed artistic director of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He will also be the producer for the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening and Closing Ceremonies in Vancouver, BC, Canada.[1]
Atkins was Artistic Director on Hey Hey It's Saturday for many Years and in 1988 was Artistic Director for the Bicentennial Military Tattoo.
He is married to Sheree Da Costa, whose sister Julie is married to Daryl Somers.
He took up dancing when his sister Michelle (Shelley) was taking dancing lessons and he ended up the dancer and she didn't want to dance anyway.[citation needed]
