David Alagalak was born 11 April 1944 on Southampton Island, Nunavut, Canada and resides in Arviat. Alagalak is currently the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the electoral district of Arviat having won the seat in the 2004 Nunavut election.
Prior to becoming an MLA in the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut Alagalak was mayor of Arviat and served as a board member to several Inuit organizations.
