Davey Nelson

David Earl Nelson (born on June 20, 1944, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma) is a former outfielder in Major League Baseball. He played 10 seasons, from 1968 until 1977, Nelson played for the Cleveland Indians, Washington Senators, Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals during his career. He batted and threw right-handed. Nelson was 5'11" and weighed 160 pounds. Nelson played his first career game with the Cleveland Indians on April 11, 1968. Over his ten year career he played in one All-Star Game (in 1973). He also had a career batting average of .244, while hitting 20 home runs. Nelson's best season was in 1973, hitting .286, with seven home runs and 48 RBIs. On September 27, 1977 Nelson played in his final Major League game, with the Kansas City Royals. He retired after the 1977 season.

After retirement Nelson spent four seasons as the Milwaukee Brewers first-base coach. In 2001 and 2002, he also served as Minor League Outfield Instructor. Nelson's coaching career began in 1980 with Texas Christian University as a baseball coach. In 1981, Nelson became a coach for the Chicago White Sox and later Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics and Montreal Expos. Nelson is currently an analyst for the Milwaukee Brewers on FSN Wisconsin.
