Davey Crockett (baseball)

Daniel Solomon "Davey" Crockett (October 3, 1875 - February 23, 1961) was a Major League Baseball player for the Detroit Tigers in 1901 -- the Tigers' first season as a major league team. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, Crockett played in 28 games (27 as a first baseman) for the Tigers. He hit .284 with a .336 on base percentage and had 29 hits, 14 RBIs, 10 runs scored, 2 doubles and 2 triples. Crockett died in 1961 at age 85 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Crockett's name is carved in a stone outside Comerica Park in Detroit.
