[edit] Career
White went to art school at the age of 16 where he discovered oil painting. His first solo exhibition at the age of 18 entitled 'Animals and Other Thingies' at the Bridewell Gallery in Liverpool was a sell out success and reviewed by Adrian Henri with whom Dave later became friends. Dave was part of the unofficial Liverpool school of painters including the likes of Dick Young and others whom now have sadly departed.
Joining Liverpool John Moores University in 1991 to study BA (Hons) Fine Art (painting), White painted in John Lennon's old art studio. Graduating in 1994, White exhibited with the Northern Graduates exhibition at the Royal College of Art in London. White became represented by Anthony Brown of Connaught Brown with a five year artist/gallery relationship and exhibited at art fairs and galleries all over the world with his series of animal portraits.[citation needed] The highlight of this period was the Blue Cross Centenary Exhibition at Sotheby's where he exhibited alongside Picasso, David Hockney, Hirst and many more. An extensive collection of work from this period is in private collections around the world.[citation needed]
White created his sneaker collection in 2002 and collaborated with Nike, touring the world with his exhibitions. More recently Dave White has collaborated with Coca Cola painting their new Cherry Coke can which was designed by Jay Z. An A-list event in New York unveiled the painting at the prestigious Chelsea Venue 'Dia' home to iconic pop art by Warhol etc.
Other subject matters that have attracted his attention are Super Cars, Star Wars and more recently Super Hero paintings. These larger works range from 5ft x 5ft upwards and are all presented in an expressionist style. Today Dave White is represented by Galerie Wild in Germany and Ferregut Tower Gallery (NYC, Dubai and Beijing). His work can be found at art fairs such as Art Basel Miami and in galleries around the world. Works in the corporate collections of Nike, Coca Cola, Converse, Rocafella Records and notable private collections worldwide.
Today, with a new series of images, White explores 21st Century Pop imagery with his passionate approach to painting, exploring popular culture in a unique expressionist style. Upcoming exhibitions in New York, Beijing, Zurich, London and Frankfurt will mean an ongoing outreach to audiences worldwide.
