Dave Smalley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dave Smalley is the lead singer and guitarist with the punk rock bands DYS, Dag Nasty, All and Down By Law. He has been known for his early contribution to the genre of emo-core music. He also founded a side project called The Sharpshooters, whose music is influenced by such mod bands as The Jam.
He received a bachelor's degree from Boston College and a masters in political science from California State University Los Angeles.
In 2004, Smalley came under fire from left-leaning members of the punk community for expressing politically conservative views, including an endorsement of the George W. Bush administration.
He resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia with his family, where he works as the op-ed editor of the town's newspaper, the Free Lance-Star. He previously worked as the youth editor for it!, a teen news supplement to the Free-Lance Star, and won several awards for that section.
Dave has also produced and appeared on Canadian punk band Penelope's second album, Face au silence du monde, recorded at Inner Ear Studio in Virginia.
