David M. 'Dave' Olin is a Democratic Farmer Labor Party member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 1A since 2006. His district comprises all of Kittson County and Roseau County, as well as portions of Marshall and Pennington Counties, in northwestern Minnesota.[1]
Olin won his first term in 2006 by defeating Republican agricultural businessman DelRay Flom by a margin of 54% to 46%.[2] The incumbent representative, Republican Maxine Penas, did not seek reelection.[3]
Olin was raised near Ada[4] and later received a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history from Concordia College in Moorhead and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota.[5] Prior to serving as a state representative, Olin served as Pennington County Attorney.[3] Olin currently resides in Thief River Falls.[5]
