Dave Mello was the drummer of the punk/ska band Operation Ivy. He was one of the key pieces to the musical feel of Operation Ivy. Even though he had only drummed in two other bands, he was consisdered a very talented drummer in Operation Ivy's heyday, yet is considered underappreciated today. Their first show was held in Mello's garage in Albany, California. He played for them only two years. They broke up in 1989 because of unwanted attention. Dave went on to bands like Downfall and Schlong (with his brother Pat Mello). Today, he lives in the East Bay area with his wife, Sarah and their son, Maxwell. While still pursuing his musical projects, Dave regularly appears at the all ages punk club 924 Gilman Street with his current band Jewdriver, and does some reunion shows with Schlong.
