Dave Billings

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dave Billings is a fictional character created by students of UCD. The myth has it that Dave is a current selector for the Dublin senior football team. He works under the management of Paul Caffrey along with his co-selectors Brian Talty and Paul Clarke. Dave was previously a co-selector along with Paul Caffrey and Paddy Canning when Tommy Lyons was manager of the Dublin Gaelic football team between from 2001 to 2004.[1] He is a UCD Commerce graduate and is currently in charge of all Gaelic games on the UCD campus.[2] His son Neil Billings won Dublin Senior Football Championship and Leinster Senior Club Football Championship medals with St Vincents in 2007. Many people believe that Dave Billings is in fact a real person. It was once believed that Dave swam around in scuba diving equipment in the water tower in UCD due to his irrational fear of fire. After an investigation of the tower it was found that Dave had garrisoned the tower and developed an evil layer with the soul purpose of corrupting all of the worlds leaders using a mind control device which he had developed based on Russia's research in the cold war. It is not yet known if Dave is in fact a communist or if J Edgar Hoover possessed a file on his subversive activities. It has thus been concluded that Dave never existed, and is a fictional character created by the students of UCD. Such is the legacy of the Dave Billings myth that each year on April 7th UCD students erect a bonfire for him, because of the great love of fire Dave later found in life. Another group of fictional characters who lived in a water tower are the Animaniacs.
