I understand this island is the site of Pat Conroy's book, "The Water Is Wide" and the movie, "Conrack". I'd love to hear more about the pre-spa history of this island if anyone has information.

 Does anyone have information about some of the people men- tioned in Conroy's The Water  is Wide---is anyone still ling on the island?.....Especially Ted and Lou Stone?

I would like to see a seperate article for Haig Point created if that is at all possible. It has an amazing history and background that easily merits a full article.
