Daunosamine

Daunosamine is a deoxy sugar and amino sugar of the hexosamine class.

It has a molecular weight of 147.172 g/mol.

It is a component of the anthracycline class of antineoplastics, linked to a derivative of naphthacene. (In the diagrams on this page, the daunosamine unit is at the bottom center of each figure.)
