Daun is a municipality in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate (German: Rheinland-Pfalz), seat of the district Vulkaneifel in the volcanic Eifel region, located south of the high Eifel on the small river Lieser. Daun is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Daun. The surrounding landscape consists of volcanic hills.
1.5 km southeast of the town centre are the so-called Dauner Maare (namely: "Gemündener Maar", "Weinfelder Maar" and "Schalkenmehrener Maar"), volcanic crater lakes caused by ancient magma upwellings. The three maare lie close together, separated only by ramparts of tuff. The Eifel Volcanic Museum is located in Daun.
Daun is a health resort with natural mineral water springs; the town recorded sales of 95 million liters of its trademark mineral water in 2002.
Daun has a partnership between cities with the municipality Carisolo (Italy).
