[edit] The Daughters of the Moon and others

Vanessa Cleveland

A blonde Daughter of the Moon and Daughter of Pandora, who stars in Goddess of the Night (Book #1), Moon Demon (Book #7), and The Final Eclipse (Book #13). As a Daughter of the Moon, she is able to expand her molecules or "invisibility" and sometimes she can move objects while she is invisible. She lives with her mother, a Hollywood costume designer. Her father died when she was five; he was once a stunt man. Quite naturally, she was popular. She tries hard to fit in with everyone, causing an emotional toll. Since her childhood, her best friend is Catty. In high school, she meets Michael Saratoga, one of the hottest guys in her school; they date each other on and off throughout the series. But in book 4, she starts to date Toby, a Regulator, and he wants the Secret Scroll destroyed. He endangers all of the girls, including Vanessa, and at the end he gets killed. In book 7, Vanessa finds out that she is a Daughter of Pandora, not just a Daughter of the Moon. Hector, a moon demon tries to marry her but in the end, she frees him and he dies.

In book 13, she escapes Nefandus, but without Serena. Once she is in Earth realm, she realizes her seventeenth birthday is a few days away. Jimena finds her and tells her that before she was ever born, the Atrox saw her bravery when she tried to save Stanton and asked the Fates to bind her to him. According to her destiny, she rules both realms and does the Atrox's biding just to win his love. Jimena tells her to hide until her birthday but Vanessa wanted to see her mother. Stanton and Catty find her and explain that everything they did and said to her in Nefandus was an act. Vanessa goes back with them to Nefandus to save Serena and destroy the Atrox. The plan was successful but what Catty didn't tell Vanessa was that she had to sacrifice herself. Vanessa wants to save her but in the end, realizes she can't. Vanessa and Stanton then goes to look for Serena and find her at Catty's fathers house. Vanessa fights Catty's father with her dark side and saves Stanton from being absorbed by the Regulator. Vanessa returns to the Earth's realm. Jimena finds her and tells her that she has to make a choice. Vanessa chooses to lose her powers and memories. She returns home where Michael gives her roses and tells her happy birthday. Her mother greets her and she tells her mother that Serena and Catty are not coming back. Before they go into the house, Vanessa sees a shadow and has a feeling that the shadow was watching her.

Serena Killingsworth

Daughter of the Moon and the Key, starring in Into the Cold Fire (Book #2) and Possession (Book #8). Because she is the Key, she is considered to be one of the deciding factors in the fight between the Daughters and the Atrox. Her gift is the power of telepathy or reading minds. After her run-in with the cold fire, she is blessed by the Goddess of the Dark Moon and Sorcery: Hekate. She lives with her father and her brother Collin. Since she actively began her work as a Daughter, her best friend is Jimena. She dates Stanton, Follower and Prince of the Night. Their forbidden love is unstoppable. In book 8, she almost switches bodies with another woman, after she drinks something the woman gave her. She also realizes that she has a third choice, to become a goddess of the dark, like Hekate. She was also given Hekate's circle, a necklace she wears alongside her moon amulet. In book 13, Serena tried to escape Nefandus with Vanessa but was captured by Regulators and taken to Catty's father. When Vanessa confronts Catty's father, Stanton tells Serena to close the portals. She succeeds and Stanton takes her out of the trance. She helps Vanessa return to the Earth's realm but she chooses to stay with Stanton and become a goddess of the dark, to help bring light into Nefandus.

Jimena Castillo

Daughter of the Moon and former girl of an LA gang, starring in Night Shade (Book #3) and The Choice (Book #9). She is Mexican and holds the power of premonition, seeing into the future. She lives with her grandmother in an apartment. Her best friend is Serena. She dates Collin, Serena's brother, from the end of book #3 after she puts her past boyfriend's spirit to rest; Veto. She is unknowingly a year older than her friends, what choice will she pick when she turns seventeen? Eventually she chooses to stay mortal, after seeing a premonition of her own death but what her mentor, Maggie, tells her is that everyone must die in someway to become reborn. On her last day as a Daughter, she was given the Medusa stone to protect her from enchantment and evil spirits. She becomes a mortal and completely forgets her life as a Daughter, until later in the series, when it is established that she is the new mentor of the Daughters after Maggie passed away. She is the reincarnation of the moon goddess Pandia and she is the new mentor for the Daughters. She cannot free Catty from Nefandus or Vanessa or Serena will be sacrificed in retaliation. In book 13, Jimena helps Vanessa and tells her of her destiny. She tells Vanessa to hide but she was only testing her. She is happy that Vanessa saves the world. She tells Vanessa that she mourned for Catty a long time ago and she knew that she will never see Serena again. She helps Vanessa make a choice.

Catty Turner

Daughter of the Moon and heiress to the Secret Scroll, starring in The Secret Scroll (Book #4) and The Prophecy (Book #11). Catty has the power to travel back and forth through time (chronokinesis). She was abandoned by her birth mother, Zoe Reese, who was a Daughter of the Moon with the powers of telekinesis but became a Follower and Catty was adopted by Kendra Turner who moved to San Diego after Catty disappeared. Her father is a member of the Atrox's inner circle and it is her destiny to destroy the Atrox. Later on, we find out that her destiny and Kyle, a Son of the Dark, intertwine. Kyle is her ex-boyfriend. Chris (also known as Chrysippus) was the Keeper of the Secret Scroll and Catty's ex-boyfriend before she went out with Kyle. Chris is now dead. Her best friend is Vanessa. It is rumored that Catty lives with her father and may be fulfilling a dark prophecy. Catty becomes a member of the inner circle because she lied to the Atrox and pretended she captured the Sons. She has Follower powers that she inherited from her father and the powers given to her by the Atrox. Catty's birth name is Atertra Adamantis, which means black diamond. She succeeds in destroying the Atrox but she ends up losing her life nad goes to the goddess of the moon selene.

She and Catty become best friends. Tianna was created by the Atrox, and she was born evil but Selene had kidnapped her when she was a baby and had given her to a Daughter who had asked for the change and her mother gave her moon dew so Tianna would be as human as possible and have a soul. Her destiny is to give birth to the Atrox's child and to destroy. Tianna had 2 destinies though. One from the Atrox and one from good with the help of Selene and her mother. In Book #12, Tianna re-binds the Atrox to its shadow form, and, in doing so, destroys herself . Before the Atrox could get her soul, Selene did.

He was then royalty, and his father, the prince, was hunting the Atrox and the Atrox took Stanton so the Prince wouldn't look for the Atrox anymore. Vanessa attempted to free him, and for that act of kindness, he can never hurt her. He is in love with Serena, even though their love for each other is forbidden. His book is The Sacrifice (Book #5). In that book, he becomes free at last, but chooses to go back to the Atrox in order to save Serena. In doing this, he is awarded the status of Prince of the Night. (Second in command to the Atrox) With that status, he can order the regulators not to hurt Serena. He helps the girls throughout the series because he wants to stay with Serena. He was the one that gave Tianna the sword to bind the Atrox to its shadow. Also, it turns out that he is the monk that helped Kyle escape and visited Serena and Vanessa while they were held captive. She fell in love with a young, handsome soldier named Hector, who later became captured by the Atrox and is viewed as "the devil." Maggie was the one to bind the Atrox to its shadow form. When she asked to live long enough to see the Atrox destroyed, the Atrox itself granted her wish. She had forgotten to ask for perpetual youth. Yet, Selene gave her an elixir that would counteract that action. She helped Chriyssipus in the 13th Century. She is ancient and teaches the Daughters on how to control their powers and other things that have to do with them. She and Hector have a child together.
