Daud Abdulle Hirsi

General Daud Abdulle Hirsi (Somali: Jeneraal Daa'uud Cabdulle Xirsi) (1924-1965) was the first Somali military leader with an academic background. He was the first commander-in-chief of the Somali National Army Forces (Ciidamadda Xoogga Dalka Soomaaliyeed) and later became minister of defence following Somalia's independence.
A secondary school and the Mogadishu football competition, "The Cup of General Daud", are named after him.
