Talk:Datel Action Replay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This article should explain where the cheat codes can be obtained.
[edit] Curious
I know that this probably isnt the place for this, but does anyone know how to translate codes from other formats, such as gameshark, VBA, etc. into Action REplay for the Gameboy Advance? or if not, does anyone know of a program that does? thx —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.244.31.53 (talk) 00:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Action Replay Code Sources
In the links it should include other action replay code sources such as gscentral and arcentral.net they offer more in depth info than codejunkies on certain games. --kirby145 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.240.9.216 (talk • contribs)
- I don't see any codes on GSCentral? Dlong 04:50, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
gscentral hasn't had codes on its site for almost a year and it's content is not quality tested to ensure they even work on the real system. It should be left as is.
[edit] Lack of other regional codes for Action Replay MAX
Is there a website containing a database to AR MAX codes other than NTSC and PAL, JAP, specifically, *if anything*? Also, why did Datel remove that damn page full of japanese regional codes in their codejunkies page to begin with, anyway? To promote their isolation from Asia/inflate their already bruised ego?
Sincerely frustrated, --Kitetsu 08:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Action Replay Version 3
Action Replay Version 3 GBA/SP Where do you get the Action Replay V.3 for GBA and GBASP???
You can find it at a GOOD store (Not Zellers or Walmart). Try EB games if you have one in your town. If you don't have an EB Games and you REALLY DESPERATELY WANT IT, try Future Shop (Ugh)
[edit] Ouch
A word of warning: Do not use AR products if you value your game. While having any character I want is nice, having a corrupted game is not. -- PinkDeoxys 18:16, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
I've never had my data corrupte by AR. As a safety precaution though I would recommend making a back-up save file before using any codes. -- TJ Spyke 17:17, 1 April 2006 (EST)
If you want to use an error-free AR, you have to be careful of which codes you use. Remember that AR screws with the systems RAM(The data that is currently loaded onto the system) to make the modifications. Sometimes certain codes you use (Even if it has NOTHING to do with save files) can jerk around the data that is sent to the memory card. The best way to guarantee not corrupting game files is to buy a separate memory card all together, since AR can corrupt ALL the data on a memory card, even files from different games. Be careful of codes made my novice hackers as well. Sometimes the effect of the code is actually a side effect of what the code is REALLY doing, which may very well be deleting your hard earned save files. !!!Scrambled Eggs the Game Hacker!!!
Actually, if it does corrupt your save, it absolutely DOES have everything to do with saves. It's just a matter of knowing the game code, and knowing common sense.

[edit] Pardon me?
Um, on the page it says that "Action Replay for Gamecube can enable a Debug Mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee." By chance, what is this debug mode? No "code" on my Action Replay disc is for SSBM's "Debug Mode". It is not on the site either. If someone does not logically verify that there is a debugging mode for the game, I will remove that bullet.
EDIT: I will also delete all info related to the bullet on the SSBM pages. Just a forewarning. --Moped 18:19, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

You have a broken link there mate! --4.227.2.147 20:45, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
That site is down for maintenance for a while. Some sort of security issue. The site SHOULD be back up and running soon. And even when the site DOES come back, that particular link probably wont work. Try just going to the main page at
Gscentral will not be back anytime soon, if it even opens at all, so don't get your hopes up.
and using their navigation bar. !!!Scrambled Eggs the Game Hacker!!!
[edit] Evo Edition?
Anybody know the differences between the AR Max and the AR Max Evo Edition? I can't find any sites that list the differences and it would probably be good to list them in this article. SilentRage 03:05, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

alright, i know i can't spell, but shouldn't we add something about PSO being the most hated game to use the action replay on???Lord GaleVII 17:13, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] N64 Passport
Should this be listed as an Action Replay for N64? I mean, there's one just like this made by Datel for the Gamecube (called the Freeloader) and the Passport Plus comes with an Action Replay, so should it be listed?

[edit] Reference
An article with 0 sources is unacceptable. Dlong 23:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Even the Mega Man page has only one reference. But I started a reference section anyway, add to it if you can find creditable resources. Remember, this section isn't for linkspam in the form of a reference.--Iamstillhiro1112 00:54, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
I would like to see a reference for the notion that the Action Replay can be used to cheat while playing multiplayer Wi-Fi games. In my experience and from what I have read online, that is absolutely false. --69.152.168.200 12:39, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Another criticism for the list?
Apparently the new version 1.20 of the Action Replay for Gamecube will not allow the user to add codes AT ALL. I am far from the only person upset about this:
http://arcentral.net has several forum threads from people asking how to add codes, only to be told they can't. The packaging indeed claims "Easy to update with NEW codes for NEW games". IMO this amounts to false advertising. 69.221.1.120 22:12, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I have version 1.2 and it does not say that on the package. I am miffed, however, to learn that I can't add codes.SuperGerbil 00:14, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Any word of AR coming out for 7th gen consoles?
Just curious 76.189.29.117 21:45, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- I read that Datel's making a "Powersave" thing for Wii. It supposedly allows you to edit saves you already have and stuff for a similar effect to the AR's. In fact, I think it might already be available. Dude902 00:02, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Further Criticism
Many factions of the gaming community, including many from the Nintendo Forums (which have since now been closed and removed, so I cannot get proof. They were the NSider forums) regard Action Replay as a feature that ruins the gaming spirit. Games such as Pokémon, which should invovle hard work to gain all the Pokémon, can now be completed effortlessly by tapping in a few codes. Also, with the introduction of NWC to the Pokémon series in Diamond and Pearl, some more corrupt players have used Action Replay to 'hack' their own Pokémon's stats, making them more powerful than the game's system normally allows, and in effect creating an unfair playing field. Evidence of Nintendo's opposition to Action Replay can be found in the Missingno egg case. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ginger Warrior (talk • contribs) 13:19, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- Forums do not qualify as a reliable source. Even if NSider was still around, you could not cite them. Dlong 14:21, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wii/Gamecube
can the wii action replay work for the gamecube games? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pikazilla (talk • contribs) 13:50, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't know if they have released the Wii Action Replay yet. As noted in the main entry, the Gamecube Action Replay no longer works on the Wii. I'm hoping the Wii Action Replay will work on the Wii and not also be blocked due to Nintendo's overenthused action (IMO) to prevent piracy. If not, I'm not going to be a happy camper. I'm probably going to write/e-mail Nintendo and ask them to let the Wii Action Replay work on the Wii.
[edit] Wii Action Replay
Is the Wii Action Replay released or not? The Codejunkies site doesn't have it, but I've seen a few online retailers with it. 24.78.107.120 (talk) 04:24, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 128bit Era?
What 128bit Era? Seriously, as far as I know, the systems listed are either 32bit or 64bit... I could be wrong but, I think someone's confused about what bits are. I'm not sure what to change it all to, probably "first, second, third, etc generation"... 24.254.163.150 (talk) 20:23, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
