[edit] Deletion proposal

This article has been proposed to be deleted by 2/19/08. I do not see any serious reason for this:

  1. I don't think we can call it a neologism because it is not considered as a noun, but more as the NAME of a project.
  2. It is not a "thinly veiled avert" because there is no commercial goal for dataportability. It is a project that aims to make a more open web. All the work for Dataportability is under Creative Commons licence.

More opinions about this issues are welcome ! --Cedringen (talk) 14:21, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Renaming

Perhaps this should be renamed "DataPortability Project" to distinguish it from the "data portability" idea. As a project this would be a description of the organization and its goals, its history and the people working on it. --Phil Wolff (talk) 21:49, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd rather keep the article as one and add paragraphs like "the idea", "the project" etc. I added some references and I hope the article is now worth keeping it, even if it can be perfected. --Cedringen (talk) 22:06, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
I do agree with the idea data portability has a challenge for the internet community is cleraly driven by the project and its aim to esthablish a standard. I dont't think that other protocole have been banned from wikipedia. --Ulikleafar (talk) 09:53, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No deletion

Vote: No Delete. I believe this article is legitimate and is an important part of communicating the complexities around both "data portability" and the related "DataPortability Project". I propose more time for authors to bring this article up to Wikipedia standards. Skotos (talk) 18:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

@Skotos : shall the warning on top of article be deleted ? --Cedringen (talk) 16:41, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
I've removed the 'delete without further notice' template to avoid immediate deletion and give an opportunity to improve the article. --Duncan MacKenzie (talk) 18:05, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rewrite needed

As-is, the article is a mess, and it misrepresents itself in the introduction. The article itself is not about some abstract concept of "data portability", it's about a particular technological effort by a group of vendors. It needs to represent itself as such in the lead. i'll see if I can work on this. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 17:22, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
