[edit] Demographics

Dattapada has a high population density. The middle class dominates the area. There are a few slums like Moti Chawl, Bansi ZhopadPatti, Flyover Slums and Champabhuvan ZopadPatti too.

Hanuman Mandir Galli (also known as Dattapada Cr. Rd No 1) is the oldest locality in Dattapada, named after the Hindu God Hanuman. The idol of Lord Hanuman was being used as a foot step in one Muslim's shop in Dahisar (East), it was taken away from there and placed at its current place by Mr. Hareshwar Dandekar in 1956, which has come forward as a famous Hanuman temple in Borivali (East)[citation needed].

The Dandekar family occupied Dattapada and its surroundings in 1895, and had built three large houses. The Kotkar, Owalekar, Patake, Bhayanderkar, Pathare, Patil and Bhatte families have been living in Dattapada for the last century. The famous singer Asha Bhosale once stayed as a paying guest at Kotkar house in Dattapada.
