From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Datta Raghunath Kavthekar (1901 – 16 August 1979), also known as D. R. Kavthekar, was a renowned Marathi novelist from the 1930s through the late 1970s. He was born in 1901 in a small Wai town on the banks of the Krishna River in Maharashtra state in India. Having lost both parents at an early age, he joined the Indian Army after matriculating. He was a World War I veteran.
His first writing at a young age was disposed of by his elder brother, who reprimanded young Datta for not focusing on his studies. His writing was inspired by his sensitive and observant mind. For depicting the aspects of delicate human relationships in various roles found in common families, his literature appealed to a significant number of readers.
Nagpur University had included his literature in their Master of Arts curriculum.
Kavthekar died on 16 August 1979.
