[edit] The Stress of Battle: Quantifying Human Performance in Combat; By David Rowland
The stress of Battle is a book, published by the stationary office, which details the current understanding of how human performance in combat is quantified through the analysis of real combat and realistic training data, using mathematical and statistical techniques. The results presented form one of the key ways of modelling combat that the MOD uses.
Chapter 1 -Introduces the concept and history of Operational Analysis, and how it has aided the UK Military forces.
Chapter 2 & 3 -Discussess realistic field trials and the begginings of Historical Analysis within the UK.
Chapter 4- Presents how HA was developed to represent the effect of different terrain, and small arms (rifles, machine guns, mortars) etc.
Chapter 5 - See's how HA was applied to the armoured battle.
Chapter 6 - Looks at the desire to participate in operations.
