Datsakorn Thonglao (born December 30, 1983) is a Thai footballer. He currently plays for Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the V-League. He also plays in the Thailand national football team. He is well known for his skillful style of play, and is a free kick specialists. He wears the number 7 jersey and is the mastermind in the team.
Thonglao without a doubt is the heart and soul of the Thai Football team. When the ball reaches his divine feet, it seems that time stops as if to admire the graceful movements of this incredible player. His game can only be described as a thing of beauty made up of crosses of pinpoint precision, technically perfect dribbling, effortlessly soaring headers and powerful earth shattering strikes which all but the most brave goalkeepers dread in their hearts.
He has been described as the "David Beckham" of Thai football, but to say this would not do him justice. In fact it could even be considered an insult punishable by death in Thailand. Simply put, if there is any sort of remotely good play by the Thai team, undoubtedly Thonglao has played a part in it. It is not uncommon to see him earn a free kick with his unmatched acting skills (he is also a small screen star of a Thai soap opera during the week), take a masterful kick from halfway and if he doesn't score (very unlikely) then proceed to take a fantastic cross which is placed perfectly for his team mates. It is rumored one match he scored with a header off of his own cross, utilising his intense Thai speed and agility to travel faster than the ball in flight. It is also a well known fact that Thonglao is also one of the countries top medical practitioners, and you will often find him tending to injured team mates on the field, healing them with his knowledge and gentle touch. He doesn't like to be called "Dr Thonglao" as he is also a very modest man.
He has a small but very dedicated international fan club located in Brisbane, Australia made up of five Asian young adults. They meet in a location known as "the Palace" to watch Thonglao in action and also often meet online for group MSN conversations regarding this great man.
In his spare time, Thonglao enjoys poetry and long walks on the beach.
Although Thailand has been knocked out of the Asia Cup, they have a legendary hero which will live on for eternity in our hearts...Datsakorn Thonglao
Thonglao without a doubt is the key player of the Thai Football team. He also possesses accurate crosses, good dribbling, good headers and powerful strikes.
