Just a heads up, I have blocked this user. You might take a look at the post at WP:ANI for my reasoning. Perhaps after this block he will cease the confrontations. Be sure and look carefully at all of his contributions too. --JodyB yak, yak, yak 16:46, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- I blocked him for 72 hours this time. He's been blocked twice before by other admins for 48 hours. This diff in its contect is quite racial and cannot be allowed. He has been encouraged and warned repeatedly. --JodyB yak, yak, yak 16:54, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Prior to coming off of his last block and tried to work with him and encourage him to conduct himself in a more civil manner. In spite of the fact he was blocked for 3rr he always refused to acknowledge anything was wrong except people who were out to get him. His block ended and he soon was telling me that Edward was after him. I investigated and could find nothing - a finding others made as well [1] He soon replied that this so-called vandalism was over one single sentence. His claim every time is that he has done nothing wrong. --JodyB yak, yak, yak 17:00, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads up. Looks like he's done quite a bit more than claim ownership while I was gone. Again, thanks for keeping me informed and for heliping resolve this unpleasant little mess. Edward321 00:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
The Original Barnstar | ||
In addition to my thanks, I'd like to add this for your careful examination of the evidence and your willingness to publically support the unjustly accused. Edward321 00:33, 15 August 2007 (UTC) |
- Ouch, I didn't know he had treated you that badly. Still, I shouldn't be surprised, he called me a racist and said I was sick because I'm a fan of alternate history. Edward321 00:35, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Now that Scipio is blocked from editing he's sending me emails. Fortunately filters can drop him in the appropriate folder unread, though I have kept them as evidence should that be needed. Edward321 13:56, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Hi again!
I'm sorry; I haven't been on Wikipedia in ages! I should probably start looking for things to do or ask you about...
So'd you hear about Fox News's little forays into the wiki? FARK.com had a lot to say about it; what did you think about it?
Congratulations on the barnstar, by the way; you deserve it.

[edit] Adoption request
Hi Darthgriz, I'm Dario from Italy, joined Wikipedia just yesterday... I'm new and lonely :P, and I just came across this page... will you adopt me? :) *angelic eyes* --Outspan 21:03, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Great :) Yeah, ELP rule ;) So, I have a lot of questions... first of all,
- Thanks for adopting me! ;)
- Should I always reply you in your own talk page, is that what everyone does? Is there a more convenient way to keep track of conversations?
- Earlier I was trying to improve this article, and to do so I had to upload a picture via Commons even though the Italian article already has that picture. For some reason I couldn't use the same picture; but uploading it twice seems a waste to me! How can I give uploaded pictures a global scope, and how is it determined?
- Noticed you have a personal picture on your user page; I thought uploads were restricted to encyclopedic material only ;). So I can just upload a not-particularly-useful-for-the-purposes-of-Wiki pic via Commons, as long as it's licensed properly? And finally, what's the difference between Commons and this?
- Thanks a lot for your patience -- I'll try not to be this annoying in the future ;) --Outspan 22:03, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks -- the image I was talking about was uploaded on the Italian wiki, so I guess the best thing to do would be to upload the pic via Commons, change both the Italian and the English image links, and finally propose the `Italian` image for deletion? How do I do the latter? And why the hell does each local wiki have different policies on so many things?! :) -- Outspan [talk · contribs] 07:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Reminder to Mentor
Hola Mentors!
Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors
Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.
I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so they need to be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!
Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:40, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter

[edit] Questions about templates ;)
Hi Darthgriz:), I was wondering if you could answer some questions about templates [I assume 'infoboxes' are part of the family too]. Some days ago I was trying to edit an article about a city and wanted to use an infobox, but found it hard to understand what are the parameters used and what their effect is. So, later on I found about about the en.wikipedia.org/Template:<temp name> pages, but unluckily only a very few of them are actually documented... why is that? Isn't documenting them something that could dramatically add value to their usability, or am I missing something? ;) What's the standard way to use a template that is not documented? I assumed the best way was to pick a page that already has it and just adapt the code, but of course that's not the way to use them at best. If you tell me it could make a difference I could try documenting a few. Thanks, bye ;) -- Outspan [talk · contribs] 11:29, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- I was trying to use the infobox on Barbens which is for the Missing Article project. You see, it's hard to know what are the parameters used. Right now to do so you have to view the source to find what the name of the template is, then go to the relative template page (Template:Infobox catalan municipio), view *that* source to find what the parameters are, and finally use the parameters without a precise idea of what's going to happen unless you've already seen it in another article. I guess documenting would be a good thing then ;) --Outspan [talk · contribs] 14:31, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

You do that here: Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests. Right now no one is asking for Halloween, so go for it. Also, I just put a pic of GSs with Bess Truman up and added to the article and I am about to put up a pic of Japanese American Girl Scouts in an internment camp up and also add it to the article. [edit] About My Edits
Listen, while you may consider my edits "Vandelism" they were no such thing. My addition to the Angel page, while it may seem obscene, was infact what the character said. I would know, having just watched that particular episode moments prior. I was simply making the page more accurate. I come to the Wikipedia often and I rarely make contributions unless I see something that is clearly wrong, or inacurate to the source material. 1/02/08
- I really don't know what your talking about, I didn't revert your edit. This is the first time I've even checked my messages in over 2 months. I reverted your IP address back in June, and that WAS for vandalism. DarthGriz98 15:34, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Princess Leia Organa peer review
I've listed this article for peer review because it right now seems oddly cluttered and, despite my adding of a lot of references, it lacks reliable source citations. Although I've already requested another peer review for another article, as long as it helps the articles get better, I've got the time. Any helpful comments are appreciated, as this should help me in expanding other Star Wars-centric articles (particularly bios like that of Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, also in dire need of certain expansion). Thanks. — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 22:40, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking time from your wikibreak to respond to my request for peer review. As I'm sure you know, distinguishing fact from fanboyish-fiction isn't always easy, as you can tell by clicking here. As that discussion shows, my initial reason for editing this article was nothing more than piqued curiosity concerning the famous outfit. It's fascinating, because this article was always getting fandalized for this very reason; in fact, it's probably experienced more fancruft explosion than any other Star Wars article. Fortunately, with the addition of that "Metal Bikini" section to the article, most of that vandalism has come to a halt. Also, although most of them were limited to the two sections of the article I created, in-line citations are being steadily added to the other sections, so I hope that helps. Once again, thank you for your comments. — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 02:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- True. I've had to deal with such vandalism to the page in the not-so-long-ago past. Evula and I had to clean up all the soft-core erotic fanfic that IPs kept on inserting into the article. Obviously, this is still a problem as some horny fans have huge "Slave Leia" crushes. . . Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, mind you, it just doesn't belong here. — Cinemaniac (talk • contribs) 16:53, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] referencing help
Hi!
I'm new on Wikipedia and am writing an article for a class project. I know very little about my topic and don't know when citing
is necessary for the information I find. I don't know what would be considered public domain or what needs to be cited. It feels like
my article is one big citation. If you have any insights or advice for referencing, I would greatly appreciate it! Have a great day!
