[edit] Tulloch
G'day Dark horse, I have been reading your major rewrite of the article on Tulloch which I see is basically a copy of this post on the Racing and Sports website by an author also called "dark horse". Can you tell me if you are the copyright holder of that post? Cuddy Wifter 00:38, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Table style
Congratulations on the great work you are doing for Australian horse racing. You seem to be firing on all cylinders! In relation to the various tables you have created in articles, I thought it might be timely to bring to your attention the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (ALL CAPS) which states that "The use of ALL CAPITAL LETTERS is discouraged". I notice that you have been using "all caps" for table headings. If you check the following, you will see that they all use "title caps" for table headings.
- List of Melbourne Cup winners
- Kentucky Derby winners
- Epsom Derby
- Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
- Preakness Stakes
It might be something to keep in mind with the infobox also. Regards - Cuddy Wifter 05:46, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

I meant that it is detailed in content. --Siva1979Talk to me 02:25, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you very much for uploading the Makybe Diva's wonderful photograph. I used this photograph also in Japanese Wikipedia (ja:Makybe Diva). --Galopin 15:04, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I did. Or at least, I think I did. Now what? --Ki Longfellow 00:15, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thoroughbred racehorse infobox
I found the infobox at Nijinsky II and began using it, notably today at Sir Barton where I thought I'd at least try to do all the U.S. Triple Crown winners without an infobox. However, the box has some visual problems such as very wide spacing, the color bar not going all the way to the end, and others. I have no idea if I screwed up or what happened so thought you might look at it for me before I continue. Too, I wonder about the value of having the "Prizemoney" info line because it is meaningless and actually misleading as a result of inflation and GDP growth. (e.g. Man o'War lifetime earnings of $249,465.) May I also suggest a line for "Honors" at the box bottom where the editor could insert "Horse of the Year", "Hall of Fame" and the like? Thanx. Sorry it takes so long to get back to you but for now my Wikipedia contribution time is limited. I have no idea what to do about fixing the info box. It would take me a few days, but what do you think if I try doing a new one using a divider table? Handicapper 12:30, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
I came across a Wikipedian who appears to have pretty good knowledge about Infoboxes so I left them a message asking for some help. Handicapper 13:15, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
I might have consulted with User talk:CyberSkull about the problem instead of reverting his good intentions. I'm sure it can be fixed if you work with him. I used the current box setup as a test on my User page. Thanx. Handicapper 14:40, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I have no clue about this techical stuff but attempted a remake of the Template. You can see it at Slew O'Gold where the main info section spacing is back to being off kilter but on My User Page, the one there is somewhat better. It needs to be wider too, so I'll ask CyberSkull to take another look. Handicapper 16:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
We will have to fix up each existing Infobox so maybe let things sit for a day or so more until I (or someone else) can figure out the few remaining bugs. I get so frustrated that I need a break from it for a bit! Thanx again. Handicapper 23:21, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
BTW. Are you an Aussie? If so, do the Australian Racing Awards have an award for jockeys, trainers, breeders etc? Handicapper 23:56, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I think I'm going to do a new infobox anyway.
- "Racing Awards" are what a horse earns while they are racing such as "Champion 2-Year-Old Filly" or "Horse of the Year", or "Triple Crown" winner, etc.
- "Honors" are bestowed afterwards such as having a postage stamp, street, race, etc. issued/named in the horse's honor. Plus, a Hall of Fame induction honor or being voted as one of the country's horses of the century, best ever "miler" etc., and other such honors.
If you can think of something that might make these clearer, let me know. 18:02, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Latest infobox variation
I did another version today that can be seen at Slew o'Gold. I'd still prefer to have the two bottom boxes without subtitles, just whatever text inserted fit automatically left or centered. However, I have no idea how to do that. I asked for comments and improvements before utilizing/replacing on the Talk page. Handicapper 19:20, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Galopin has adjusted them as per my request. I think it is by far the best version to date. Take a look at his talk page (User talk:Galopin#Template tests) to see the choices. If you don't like either, maybe you should again go to the Template Talk page and the Project Talk page and make a link to the version you prefer so that everyone involved in the project can decide. Thanx. Handicapper 11:51, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
I agreed with you on the Infobox setup and am proceeding to redo existing ones and make new ones. As to which races are "Major", that's tough. Grade/Group I is a good guidleline but I think we shouldn't attempt to regulate it because of so many changes over the years. In the U.S., we have a number that were once Grade I's that because of the Breeders' Cup have now become a Grade II or III. As to their rating, in my opoinion it would be 1) unfair to other from earlier times, and 2) there are so many variables country to country that it is meaningless in an ncyclopedia's "global text". I think the text of the article can say its Timeform or Beyer rating or whatever. Handicapper 17:56, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
