[edit] Spoo!

Thanks for the copy editing on Spoo. The little things always pass me by! --Jeffrey O. Gustafson - Shazaam! 3 July 2005 03:33 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism

I'm trying to figure out how to report an incident of vandalism. I could just delete the vandalism, but thought it should be brought to the attention of the admins. I found the Wikipedia:Vandalism page, but it's not clear what I'm supposed to do. The page in question is Kestrel, the edits made by 69.244.7.222

I've reverted the vandalism and warned the user. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. --Pilot|guy 14:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Seth Mumy

Hello,

Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.

Thanks! --Vox Causa 04:09, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki templates

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wiki templates, by Someguy0830 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wiki templates fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Cross namespace redirect

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wiki templates, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:07, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Notability of Jim Warren (Artist)

A tag has been placed on Jim Warren (Artist), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. SamBC(talk) 22:24, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] League of Copyeditors roll call

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

[edit] Vanity edit

I was asked to do the article by the gallery in Ireland so I dont see a problem with it since it was the first gallery to have a real life and second life opening on two continents and he felt it warranted a little something on Second life Wiki about it. Whats your point? Artintegrated (talk) 04:54, 15 March 2008 (UTC) BTW the owner knows I contribute art info to Wikipedia thats why he asked me.

I dont think that Wikipedia has to be considered a Bible and held in the same regard as that. Wiki is an encyclopedia where information is added by people and backed up by articles when they can be found. It is an affront to me that you consider that i am knwn for original research even when i do find articles to back it up. As for your friend, I hope she does extremely well with her gallery. Touting the SL gallery, maybe, but that is what happened and i dont have a problem with adding that information in. It can be backed up and has been. Thats all it needs for Wiki as wiki is contrived to use our vast informational resources to back up our claims here and if we cant then they will disappear at some point. [edit] Flowers for Algernon

Just trying to understand the motivation behind a recent edit you made to Flowers for Algernon, adding a semi-colon to make a not particuarly long sentence into two separate clauses. I'm not denying the grammatical correctness of the sentence as it now stands, but the sentence was grammatically correct previously and flowed better in my opinion. You also forgot that references should go immediately after puntuation, not before.

Before I consider changing it back, I'd like to know your reasons for the change in the first place. Thanks.

I would add that the article as a whole is still a work in progress and does need serious copyediting for which I would value as much help and input and possible. Because of this, I'm all the more surprised that your only edit changed something which I'm pretty sure was fine as it stood and that you didn't try correct any of the rest of the article which clearly needs work.
