Hi, and thanks for your welcome. I am also Sydney-born and now live in Canberra. Funnily enough, I am a believer in Jesus (but I have a lot of time for atheists). As an Australian, you might like to check out Australian resources, such as The Australia Wikiportal, Australian Wikipedians' Notice Board, Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight, New Australian Articles and Australian stub articles. Also, as a Canberran, have you considered participating in WikiProject Canberra? It's a Project aimed at enhancing coverage of Canberra, and help is always needed.
