Starting my userpage

Dear Dar-Ape, Do you remember me? I'm the one who edited and cited the Cactus article. I'm have a problem with my userpage. When I click "start 'leujohn' article", (or something like that. I suppose you know what I mean) it opens a "Do you want to open this file?" dialogue box. It pops up every time a Windows XP user opens a file that needs to be downloaded (except those who set it as "don't open this box again.) When I click on "Open", nothing pops out. So, my question is how can I start the article? Also, I want to be adopted by you so I can learn more about editing. You can find me in the "Users wanting to be adopted" list. Please adopt me. Thanks. Lemon Leung 10:20, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

I followed all your instructions and managed to type in something with Microsoft Word. I saved it, but a hour later, my userpage still doesn't show up. I checked the deletion log and found that it wasn't on it. Do I need to upload it? If yes, how? Also, how do you put topics in your web page? Also, I hear that you are in the Counter Vandalizm Unit. I want to join also, but I don't know how. Can you tell me? Thanks.Lemon Leung 08:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
It still isn't good. I still can't edit my Userpage. Is there any kind of "Reporting a bug" page? And replying to your question, I do mean categories. So, how do I add them? Thanks. leujohn 09:17, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for offering to help. I do want to be added to Counter Vandalizm Unit Category. Thanks again. leujohn 02:31, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

My RFA

Thank You,
Dar-Ape/Archive 3 for your Support!
Thank you for your support in my RfA, which closed at 111 / 1 / 2. I am humbled and rather shocked to see such kind comments and for it to reach WP:100. Please feel free to leave a note if I have made a mistake or if you need anything, I will start out slow and tackle the harder work once I get accustomed to the tools. Thank you once more, I simply cannot express in words my gratitude.

Faisal Gill Biography.

re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faisal_Gill

In response to your request that I not remove text from Faisal Gill's biography without comment, I removed vandalism from someone engaged in a law suit with him. I have provided the following email to Wikipedia:

I am writing to report problems with the biography posted at the url referenced above and request that you block future attempts to vandalize Faisal Gill's biography. Additionally, I am writing to request that the problem text (shown below in part II) be removed. I have outlined the three problems in part I (below): Vandalism, copying from other websites, and violation of a neutral point of view (NPOV). In part II (below), I have pasted the problem text. Part III is a summary, which shows motives for vandalism and supports my characterization of this addition as vandalism.

Part I. The wikipedia article at the url listed above, contains three problems: (1) Vandalism to the basic article about Faisal Gill. The additions to Mr. Gill's biography (shown in part II of this email) The portion labeled "Faisal Gill Affair" is not credible since the Government agencies referenced have been provided with documents to prove no wrong doing on Mr. Gill's part. The vandal is aware of this fact, but choses to reference pages from blogs established prior to the completion of the investigation. The addition labeled "Steve Chapman Affair" holds no historical value and is merely a personal footnote. (2) Copying from other websites in violation of wikipedia policies. Much of the material contained in the "Faisal Gill Affair" section is plagerized. Even the title, "Faisal Gill Affair" was taken from the headlines of other blogs. (3) Significant bias against Faisal Gill, which violates wikipedia's practice of neutral point of view. The vandal uses inflamatory terms such as "controversy," "Muslim Activist," to play on ethnic fears. The vandal references a law suit handled by Faisal Gill. Mr. Gill's role as attorney in this law suit appears to be the motivation behind the vandal's defamatory attacks against Mr. Gill.

Part II. Disputed Additions to Faisal Gill's Biography

Controversy

[edit] The Faisal Gill Affair Faisal Gill served as a director for the American Muslim Council and the Islamic Free Market Institute[1] in 2001 which was lead by Abdurahman Alamoudi a supporter of Hezbollah and Hamas, and who was later convicted on charges of terrorism. After being appointed by George Bush as a policy director for the Department of Homeland Security, a scandal developed regarding Faisal Gill's means of disclosure on his security clearance application resulted in him being briefly suspended. The results of a DHS Inspector General investigation were announced in August 2004[2] and indicated that there was no reason to deny Faisal Gill a clearance and no sanctions against him were announced.

The Senate Finance Committee then requested clarification[3] regarding the results of this investigation, noting Faisal Gill's apparent lack of qualifications for the position, his relationship with Asim Ghafoor, and several other unresolved questions. To date no answer to this request has been provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

Faisal Gill left the Department of Homeland Security in January 2005.

[edit] 2006 Steve Chapman Campaign Faisal Gill served as spokesman and as a strategist for the 2006 primary campaign of Steven Chapman in the 50th District, House of Delegates. Steven Chapman neglected to file for the Republican convention and Faisal Gill explained to the Manassas Journal-Messenger[4] that this oversight was caused by the distraction posed by negative political coverage in the local political blog Black Velvet Bruce Lee (now renamed to Black Velvet Bruce Li). Faisal Gill's law firm of Gill & Gallinger now represents Mr. Chapman in a defamation lawsuit[5] filed against the operators of Black Velvet Bruce Li which is pending in Prince William County, Virginia.

[edit] Links Faisal Gill's biography from Gill & Gallinger Web site The Faisal Gill Affair by Frank Gaffney, FrontPage Magazine Chapman Misses 50th Deadline Manassas Journal-Messenger, May 31, 2006 Chapman files blog suit Manassas Journal-Messenger, June 3rd, 2006 Senators Inquire on Homeland Appointee Fox News, August 13th, 2004 Homeland Appointee Under Investigation Fox News, July 25th, 2004 Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faisal_Gill" Category: Muslim activists

Part III. Summary. These additions to Mr. Gill's biography appear to be retalitatory because of an existing law suit which Mr. Gill represents against the alleged vandals (defendants). Furthermore, the vandal(s) serve(s) as supporter of a political opponent in a current race for state delegate in Virginia. The absence of NPOV clearly indicates bias and undermines the credibility of this Wikipedia article. Additionally, items stated as facts are patently wrong.

Adoption/Help

Hello, I am requesting adoption and also seeking help.

I am trying to fix a table (full of userboxes) that is to the right. It is labeld Wikiprojects and I am trying to put them to the left OR at leat on top of the user page, right after the flag, each box side by side like a banner (this would be the better option). Correction of Wereko to Wireko

Your recently changed a correction I made; the name of the politician is Charles Wireko-Brobby and not "wereko". I have been trying to change the titile but I am new at editing as so I dont quite know how yet. I would also ask if you could rename the page with the correct spelling. Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by George.Brobby (talkcontribs).

I have already contacted Ghanaweb on the correct spelling, alot of people usaully misple it because "wereko" is acutually a middle name so they just assume its the same for him but its actually a last name for us and it is not even derived from the middle name. I know all this because I am a family member and my full name is George Wireko-Brobby. In addition people also sometimes even spell Brobby by putting an E in it "Brobbey" which is also a different variant of our name. Thanks and I hope this clears stuff up. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by George.Brobby (talkcontribs).

I figured it out.

the first box, was archiving it to page 1 and the second box, had nothing to archive, beacuse the first box had already done it, so i think that i just need to copy page 1 into page 2.

WP:UW future?

Hi, Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace template issue. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. The MotherLoad DRV you initiated is currently at 100% endorsement of the speedy deletion. Is there more information you'd like to provide that might be of use in coming to a different consensus? - CHAIRBOY () 04:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the contact; I have chosen to withdraw the DRV in light of pending consensus that the article was not notable and was a valid A7 deletion. I suppose I misremembered the article, or at least its own assertion of notability, and I haven't found anything too promising through Google. Cheers, Dar-Ape 13:49, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
No problem. If you think it can be made into a good article (that meets notability requirements) and would like a copy of what was deleted restored to your userspace to use as a base to fix up (preceeding a move back to article space), let me know. - CHAIRBOY () 14:40, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Crosstrack_box.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Crosstrack_box.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 16:30, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Image:Outrage_box.jpg

I have tagged Image:Outrage_box.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 13:33, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Outrage_box.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Outrage_box.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 21:32, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
