The New Roster was created as a thread for the most elite group of friends residing in the western Kane County-area suburbs of Chicago. They set off on a journey to hit 5000 posts and successfully reached their goal at approximately 7:30pm on 4-9-2008.

Friends since their high school years, this group had all joined Facebook in the year 2006, like everybody else did. Little did they know they were setting out to break records with a thread titled "The New Roster". Soon, one of the members - only known as "Dave" - would create a thread with 20 other names tagged. Not too long afterward the thread grew to 1000 posts. Then in an explosive burst of posting, the thread grew to 5000 posts in little over six months. This achievement is considered miraculous, considering that roughly 10 of the members regularly spoke via the thread. The planned celebration is a 5-course meal made by one of the members - known as "Brit" - considered to be an expert cook. This group has also been noted as the first to coin the phrase "clink it up"[1].
