Talk:Darwinbots

I've done my best to organize the Darwinbots information proffessionally and with nonbias, but I'm hardly a neutral POV, being a developer and all. Numsgil --Numsgil 02:37, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Changed comparison of Core War to Avida to Core War with Tierra. See those articles for reasons why Tierra is more like Core War than Avida (for one, that organisms do not share memory in Avida). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.61.63.115 (talk) 23:43, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

There aren't going to be any newspaper or book articles written on Darwinbots to provide notability. However, an informal google search provides over 6000 hits. There are many different sites that have reviewed and linked to older versions of Darwinbots. I think the problem here is that most of the content could only be corroborated by linking to the Darwinbots forum or wiki, which would be first hand sources. --Numsgil (talk) 11:14, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Can you provide links to the reviews? I tried Googling it myself but all I got was garbage – sites that referred to it in passing and all, but not actual content review to it. You're right, there are no book references, as I checked Google Books and found none. hbdragon88 (talk) 21:46, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
HotU has an entry for it, where it's received the distinction of being a "top dog". It looks like the other sites that reviewed it several years back have gone belly up. There's also my interview on biota.org, where I discuss Darwinbots. Other than actually asking other amateur ALife-ers, I think that's the best I can provide. There just really aren't any secondary sources. But I think notability should be easy enough to determine. --Numsgil (talk) 23:12, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, easy enough...the very definition of WP:N used to require "multiple, non-trivial sources"; now been reduced to "significant secondary coverage." And the biots.org interview mp3 has either changed or the whole site has gone down. I'm rather reluctant to press this when someone objects, though (I'm one of those kinds of people who avoid controverisal issues on this 'pedia). hbdragon88 (talk) 23:37, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
Managed to fix biota.org's link on the main page. Try this. The problem of secondary sources is common for most amateur ALife work. We're all known to each other, and there's usually discussion off hand in forums and things, but it's rare for someone to write an article proper. It usually spreads by word of mouth. --Numsgil (talk) 02:25, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
