Talk:Darksyde (Transformers)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Darkside? I read and did a trivia quiz on the official site and I thought the ship's name was the Excelsior. (Darkside wasn't one of the choices of ship names.)
The name Darkside is just speculation. Terrorsaur's line could be interpreted as "Welcome to the dark side", aka "Welcome to the bad guys". The upcoming Beast Megatron "10th Anniversary" toy by Hasbro includes a miniature of the Predacon ship - which remains unnamed. The corresponding Optimus Primal toy includes the Axalon, which is called by it's proper name. The lack of name on the Predacon ship supports the idea that the ship name has still not been officially divulged by Hasbro. This article should at least be rewritten to state that the name Darkside is a popular fan name for the ship, as it is not backed up or supported in any official way. 68.253.177.130 21:51, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- The article itself states that name was unofficial and made up by fans based on the line from Terrorsaur, but then was made officialy when the DVD box set insert and the Beast Wars video game started calling the Predacon ship the Darkside. It should be noted that the little Predacon ship toy that came with 10th Anniversary Megatron is simply called "Predacon ship" on the box. [[user:mathewignash]
[edit] Lack of sources and references
I don't see any problem with this page. It has info from the toy box, and people who read the comic books and watched the TV show. Seems fine to me. 6-21-06 user:Mathewignash
[edit] Darksyde, not Darkside
On the art for the Botcon box set, the ship's name is Darksyde, making the name official but changing the spelling. This should be reflected in the article. Metallix Mk2/Amadeus Windfall
- The DVD box and video game made it official already, and they spelled it "Darkside". So both spelling are official. user:mathewignash
- The toy is the first official source from Hasbro, and as such it takes preference. If we leave this as "Darkside", we might as well move Energon Downshift and Cliffjumper into each other's articles- it goes against what has been officially mentioned by Hasbro, not a company they've licenced the rights to the show to. Now that the Botcon set's come along and named it "Darksyde", we have a title with better credibility- again, I cite the Energon Downshift and Cliffjumper situation. You don't see fans calling Downshift "Cliffjumper" and vice-versa. Metallix Mk2/Amadeus Windfall 07:34, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Both are official, since they are licensed products from Hasbro. Darkside was first, Darksyde was second, both should be mentioned. One might even argue that a publically released video game takes presidence over a collectors club exclusive toy which only a few people see. I won't try to make that arguement here though. There should be a redirect in the second spelling to this article, since it's already here. user:Mathewignash
- Yes, but Teletraan I goes by Darksyde. The talk page of the article is ALL ABOUT THE SPELLING. Read it. Krem (talk) 14:04, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Terror Crasher?
In the article it states the ship's original name was terror crasher. I have never heard of this before. What sute states this fact? 69.141.78.155 21:30, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
I believe this is the name in the Japanese translation of the TV series. It's official, if Japanese-only. user:mathewignash
