Talk:Dark and Shattered Lands
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Keep: Dark and Shattered Lands is notable for the following reasons (all of which should be added to the article):
1: It has been one of the most popular muds in mud history and is certainly one of the most long standing text based games on the internet.
2: It was discussed at GDC in San Francisco in 2005 by round table disucssions as one of the games that got many current game developers interested in the industry such as EA Mythic CEO Mark Jacobs.
3: Conventions for this game have had an economic impact on the hosting communities hosting 50-100 visiters at a time which most often has been seen in Amarillo Texas prompting letter of thanks from Amarillo's Mayor.
4: DSL has been ranked the #1 Mud on the Mud Connector ever since late 2005.
5: It has has had more players go through the game than other MUDS listed in Wikipedia, such as Avatar.
6: Many novelists have written stories based on the DSL World, one of which is currently getting published by Del Ray Books publishing.
7: It is an icon of middle year text based MUD development.
speedy Deleted as essentially the same as the article deleted at AfD in 2006.
Please give me some time to update and make changes, add sources, as I do not have a lot of time, but I am trying to make this page as encyclopedic as possible. I want to include a source for an award, top ten ranking, USENET and other Wikipedia articles which may be pertinent. It may take a few days to get a basic page up and running for me. --Rahennig (talk) 17:11, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- You could create a version in user-space first maybe, less risk of someone suggesting deletion there, then place here once you're done. At the very least, I think there should be reliable references. If you can find references for all the 7 points above, I'm quite sure nobody will want to suggest deletion. Points 4 and 5 are the two which matter the least btw. since Wikipedia does not care about popularity, see WP:notability. --Minimaki (talk) 21:18, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just worked on it a little. The in-game stuff should all go under an umbrella section, and the location section doesn't add anything useful to the article. I've removed some red links, since they're ugly. Other than that, janitorial stuff. Sources look good to me so far, but you'll want one in something big, like the New York Times or such. --lifebaka (Talk - Contribs)
Keep Give the page a shot, the editors sound serious this time about making an encyclopedic entry. Bjsiders (talk)
