article lacks relevance: other than being one of a president's many children, what sets this programmer apart from others?
suggestion: delete this article - no relevance was provided for about eight months -, and also delete the entry in the Olusegun_Obasanjo article, saying "These include Dare Ọbasanjọ, a Microsoft programmer and developer." --Terrestrian 15:36, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

according to the page history, the original author of this page seems to be Dare Obasanjo (aka Carnage4Life) himself. submitted a proposal for deletion (even though a speedy deletion (cf. 7.) would be justified) --Terrestrian 17:07, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

 Should we then delete this entry Chelsea_Clinton? What about Euan_Blair? Haacked 22:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

The newsworthiness of Chelsea Clinton cannot be compared to that of Dare Obasanjo. Ms. Clinton has lived the majority of her life in the public spotlight with continuing media coverage. Dare Obasanjo is one of thousands of just-good-enough Program Managers at Microsoft with the luck of one distinction: he is one of a number of children of once-president Obasanjo. I still don't understand why this page hasn't been swiftly deleted. 14:15, 7 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.46.169.60 (talk)

[edit] Dare Obasanjo's own blog as a reference

Dare Obasanjo's own blog as a reference in this article is not appropriate. Besides, that blog is not a reliable source. See Wikipedia:Citing sources. --Ezeu 00:17, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

I'll well familiar with WP:RS, thank you, particularily the section titled "Self-published sources in articles about themselves", which I will quote here:
Material from self-published sources, whether published online or as a book or pamphlet, may be used as sources of information about themselves in articles about themselves, so long as there is no reasonable doubt about who wrote it, and where the material is:
  • relevant to the person's notability, or, if the material is self-published by a group or organisation, relevant to the notability of that group or organisation;
  • not contentious;
  • not unduly self-serving or self-aggrandizing;
  • about the subject only, and does not involve claims about third parties, or about events not directly related to the subject.
This gives us the latitude to include this information. -/- Warren 00:46, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, Someone may doubt Dare Obasanjo's claim that he is the son of Olusegun Obasanjo. It may seem unduly self-serving and self-aggrandizing to make such a claim. That there is no verification from a reliable independent third party is bothersome. His own blog cannot be considered a reliable source in this case.--Ezeu 01:09, 11 August 2006 (UTC)

Here's a third party reference that states Dare is the son of Olusegin Obasanjo http://www.nigeria-planet.com/President-Obasanjo.html Haacked 22:13, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

That third party reference is an old copy/paraphrase of the Wikipedia entry itself on Olusegun Obasanjo - nevertheless I agree with taking Dare at his word and I'm not going to revert your change. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 207.170.200.19 (talk) 23:06, 30 March 2007 (UTC).

How's this for a source? http://saharareporters.com/www/news/detail/?id=238 j4_james 18:32, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I avoid citing saharareporters.com, as their articles often come across as very negative, and I can find no information on who the site's owner/writers are. Also, Dare has only got a one sentence mention on that page. Picaroon (t) 03:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
