The sign board says:

'Saaagara Siri' as it is popularly known as, Daria daulat palace was constructed in 1784 A.D. It has been popular as Tipu sultan's summer palace.

Constructed on an altitude, the major part of this monument was constructed in Teak. The monument has open corridors on all the four directions, sporting wooden pillars.

The walls of palace and the ceiling sport colorful paintings. Amongst these, Haider ali and tipu sultan defeating Colnel Bailey's english army and the Nizam's army that came late to help the englishmen.

On the eastern wall, the portraits of Tipu sultan's contemperories, the rajas and queens, and various prominant people are put up. Amongst those are Chittor's rani, Tanajavur, Varanasi Rajas, the second Balaji Rao Peshwa, Magadi Kempegowda, Madakari Nayaka of Chitradurga and Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar are prominant.

After the death of Tipu sultan, in 1799, Colnel Arthur Wessley (Duke of Wellington) lived in this palace for a while.
