Daryl Gross
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Daryl Gross is the athletic director for Syracuse University.
Formerly, Gross coached and worked at the University of Southern California in intercollegiate athletics after being a graduate coaching assistant (while earning is doctorate).
Gross received his bachelors degree and played college football at University of California, Davis.
Since his tenure began at Syracuse University, the athletic programs have suffered notably. The 2006-2007 academic year marked the first time in 25 years that the Syracuse University football, basketball, and lacrosse teams failed to play past their regular seasons, respectively.
As a result, many people have openly criticized Gross. To this extent, a Web site was created (http://www.getgrossout.com). You may want to take a look at it.
Upon eliminating the swimming and diving program from Syracuse University (effective after the 2007-08 season), Dr. Phil Whitten, Executive Director of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, called for Gross' resignation, citing "a shocking disregard for checking the facts and a breathtaking lack of competence."
