Darwen LPD

Darwen LPD is the name for the former Leyland Product Developments company acquired by the Darwen Group in November 2007. The company is in England.

LPD was established in 1994 after a managemant buyout of Volvo's Product Development division and was acquired by Greencool Holding Limited in 2004. It has a workforce of over 40 staff and primarily designed chassis and bodies for commercial vehicles. This has included work for Volvo and Scania. It also has a manufacturing arm and this carries special vehicle conversions, prototype builds and designs and makes a vehicle recovery device, the Rapid Deployment Transporter, for the RAC.
