Darrick Wood is a seconday school in Orpington, Kent in the London Borough of Bromley. There is a current roll of 1700 pupils and the school has many teachers. Darrick Wood is a larger than average comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11-18. The school was first opened in 1975 and since then has grown hugely adding buildings. At one end of the school there is even a public sports centre and there is a swimming pool about 500 yards from the entrance that the school uses. The school has recently been awarded Specialist Technology College status.

Darrick Wood has had 3 headteachers since it opened in 1975. The first was Mr Turner who was head until 1985, then there was Mr Barker who was head until 2001 and finally the current head who is Mrs Barbara Rhymaun.

The school is made up of three main buildings. Two of these are named The Barker and The Turner Building after the schools previous headmasters. A third building named 'The Resource Centre' houses work-related learning offices and a computer suite exclusively for use by the Sixth Form. An extension to this building was completed in 2008. A highly skilled team of site staff carry out essential maintenance and maintain the school grounds throughout the school day.

Darrick Wood School is one of the best schools around their area in their attendance records. On an average rate, pupils of all tutor groups attend to school approximately 97-99%. On a weekly basis, classes participate in a competition as to which class will get the highest attendance. As a prize, the class that has won will be awarded a box of chocolates to share among the pupils.
