[edit] Early Career

Encouraged from quite an early age by his father, an avid blues fan, Styles had always possessed a passionate craving for music. Many late nights were spent learning to play the keyboard. In 1992, during a wintry February night in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Styles had his first "hands on" experience of the then underground rave scene - at "Oscars Nightclub" situated on Clacton Pier. This initial exposure instigated a desire to be at the heart of such a community. Darren was brought up in Frinton On Sea

In 1993 along with friend Paul Hobbs aka DJ Force, Styles signed to Hardcore label, Kniteforce records under the name 'Force + Evolution'. Many of these releases were championed by the mighty Carl Cox! Soon after the pair were producing for DJ Slipmatt's 'Universal' label under the name 'Sense of Summer'.

By 1996 Styles and Hobbs, under the name 'Force + Styles', were DJ'ing every weekend up and down the UK, touring Australia, The United States, Canada and Ibiza on a regular basis, whilst holding down residencies at 'Slammin Vinyl', 'Helter Skelter', and 'United Dance', to name just a few. Due to the ever increasing demand for their original work combined with the short time needed to create their music, they started their own record label offering themselves a portal to create and distribute their work. UK Dance was born. UK Dance went on to host a catalogue of big selling tracks.

[edit] Styles & Breeze

In 1999 Darren teamed up with another up and coming hardcore DJ, Mark Breeze and together they formed Styles & Breeze.

Styles has been the writer behind the following singles:

  • Heart of Gold – Kelly Llorenna – no.19 in 2002
  • Field of Dreams – Flip & Fill – no. 28 in 2003
  • Heartbeatz – no.16 in 2005

Late 2006 saw Styles make a clean sweep at the Hardcore Awards, winning Best DJ, Best Producer and Save Me won single of the year. Styles is also responsible along with Breeze and Hixxy, for the compilation series – Clubland X-Treme Hardcore which has sales of over 450,000 across its 4 volumes.
