Darren Ritchie

Darren Ritchie (born in 1975 in Edinburgh) is a Scottish long jumper.
He was 6 x Scottish Long Jump Champion, and also won the triple Jump in 2004. He also added 2x Indoor Scottish titles.
He is also 3 X AAAs Champion.
He finished fourth at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, missing the bronze medal with a one centimetre margin. He also narrowly missed the qualification standards for the 1996 and 2004 Summer Olympics, although in the latter case he came close with a new Scottish record of 8.02 metres.
He lives in Galashiels and his club is Sale Harriers. He has also been based in Oslo, Norway.
In late 2006 Darren turned his attention to coaching, he hand-picked two of Scotland's talented young athletes, Jade Nimmo and David Martin. Within only a few months both athletes won Scottish Indoor and AAA titles between them at U17 and U20 level respectively. Recently, Ritchie has been announced as Scotland's National Jumps Manager.
