[edit] Career

Between 1988 and 2005, he won slightly under £1 million in prize money, and he reached a high ranking of 8, and was ranked within the top 16 for many years. His most notable achievements as a professional were to win the 1996 Benson & Hedges Irish Masters in 1996, beating Steve Davis 9-8 in the final, and he captained Wales to victory in the 1999 Nations Cup. He was also a semi-finalist in the 1994 World Championship, losing to Jimmy White as well as a quarter-finalist on a few occasions, and he beat players like Ken Doherty, John Parrott, and Ronnie O'Sullivan at the crucible. He compiled 111 centuries in his career, and is one of only 25 players to have over a century of centuries in professional play. He lives in Fleur-de-Lys, near Blackwood, Caerphilly, and owns a snooker club in the area, named Red Triangle Snooker Club. Morgan still plays in amateur and semi-profesional events, and won the European Masters title in 2007.
