Darren Jeffries (born Darren Jon-Jeffries) has played the role of Sam "O.B." O'Brien in Hollyoaks for the past ten years, and has become a strong favourite among Hollyoaks fans. In 2007, after ten years of playing O.B., Darren announced that he is leaving the Channel 4 soap. His final air date was 27th February 2008.[1] At The 2008 British Soap Awards, Max (Matt Littler and OB (Jeffries) won The Best On-Screen Partnership Award,an award they have often been nominated for,and fans have said it's a nice touch to win after his departure. [2] In an interview after winning their award, Matt Littler (Max Cunningham) let slip that Jeffries had return for a spectacular storyline, along with Sarah Jayne Dunn (Mandy Richardson) and Stephanie Waring (Cindy Cunningham), and Jeffires said he wondered if he had made the right choice in leaving the soap, and was quite enjoying being back.

Darren is called "Daz" by his friends and family.
He is close friends with his former Hollyoaks co-stars Matt Littler, Cassie Powney, and Connie Powney.[4]
