[edit] 1991-1995
The former North Adelaide SANFL player was initially drafted by Melbourne and then to Brisbane before finally making his debut for Hawthorn in 1991 in an 86 point loss Adelaide. He played a minor role in his side’s Premiership side in his debut season but went from strength to strength as he made his name as a forward in future years.
Darren Jarman only ever played for North Adelaide in the SANFL. His brother Andrew (the current coach of the NAFC) played for both North Adelaide & Norwood.
Darren Jarman also had his own fan club - the Jarmaniacs, who were a small but committed bunch of Adelaide Crows fans who attended every match under their colourful 'Jarmaniacs' banner. Despite Jarman's long retirement from football, the Jarmaniacs are believed to still be an active group and have been recently seen going wild in such far away places as Salvadore, Brazil and Shepparton, Victoria.
[edit] Move to Adelaide Crows
In 1996, Jarman was traded to the Adelaide Crows and had a solid 1996 season. He became an immediate focal point up forward, and played a major role in both the 1997 and 1998 Grand Final wins, booting six goals against St. Kilda in ’97 (five of which were in the last quarter) and five goals in the ’98 win over North Melbourne.
[edit] Retirement
An emotional Jarman retired after the 2001 Elimination Final loss to Carlton after 230 games 386 goals and three Premierships.
