Darko Rundek

Darko Rundek (born January 30, 1956) is a Croatian singer, songwriter, poet, and actor. His music career started in the early '80s, as the frontman of the world music influenced rock band Haustor. Living in France since 1991, he recorded three albums with various musicians from different parts of the world: U širokom svijetu, Apocalypso and Ruke. The last was a concept album about a group of musicians traveling on a cargo ship.

Sided by the sui generis group Cargo Orkestar, Darko Rundek recorded the cabaret album Ruke in 2002 (but released in September of 2004). Featuring a slow and vintage musical style, it tells the story of a band of ship-traveling musicians, producing an atmospheric cabaret feel intensified by the lo-fi production of Vedran Peternel.

Some lyrics, mainly penned by Rundek after the instrumental compositions of the Cargo Orkestar members, are spoken in English, but also in Croatian, Spanish, French, and in a language supposedly created by Rundek himself.

In 2006, Rundek released a second album with the Cargo Orkestar, MHM A-Ha Oh Yeah Da-Da.
