Dark Shadows (1991)

In 1991, Dan Curtis made a weekly primetime re-imagining of his Dark Shadows television series for NBC. It starred the same cast from the 1990 made-for-television movie and told a streamlined version of the original storyline - the arrival of Governess Victoria Winters at Collinwood, vampire Barnabas Collins being released from his coffin, Dr. Hoffman's attempt to medically cure Barnabas' vampirism, and finally Victoria's time warp into the past to witness the still-human Barnabas' encounter with Angelique, and his transformation into an undead creature. The show was canceled after is first season finale, due to low ratings.

[edit] Cast

Actress Rebecca Staab appeared in the premiere as Daphne Collins, daughter of Elizabeth, who never appeared in the original series. Original series characters Professor Timothy Eliot Stokes, Sam Evans, and Laura Collins did not appear in the '91 series, although mention was made of both Sam Evans & Laura Collins characters and likely would have appeared, had the series been renewed for a second season.
