The Dark Gods are fictional characters appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. They first appear as a group in Thor #4 (Oct. 1998) and were created by Dan Jurgens and John Romita Jr.

The Dark Gods are the evil opposites of the Norse gods, the Asgardians. The Asgardians first come into contact with the Dark Gods many millennia ago, when Odin sends a scout to explore the universe. This scout discovers Narcisson - the city of the Dark Gods - and is drawn in conflict with Tserron, wife of the prince Perrikus. The scout kills Tserron and escapes, not realizing that Perrikus has allowed him to escape so as to determine where the scout originated from. Once Perrikus learns of Asgard, the Dark Gods attack and after a long and bloody war defeat the Asgardians. Just as Odin was about to be killed by the Dark Gods, an infant Thor aids Odin, who then banishes the Dark Gods. [1]

Perrikus and the surviving Dark Gods return over a millennium later and once again confront Odin and a now adult Thor. In addition to Perrikus, the core group of Dark Gods [2] consists of Majeston Zelia (the leader); Adva (god of Portals and Knowledge); D'Chel (god of Deceit); Slototh (god of Filth) and Tokkots (god of Corruption). After a spectacular battle the Asgardians are again defeated. Despite this setback, however, Thor escapes and with the aid of fellow immortal Hercules and the Destroyer defeats the Dark Gods. [3]

The god slayer Desak later hunts down the Dark Gods and slaughters them all - with the exception of Perrikus and Adva. [4] They escape and later team to battle Thor at the request of Zarrko, the Tomorrow Man. Thor severs Perrikus' right arm with the enchanted Bloodaxe, and he and Adva flee, with their current whereabouts unknown. [5]
