Darine (Arabic:دارين) is a Swedish artist. With two albums in account, her breakthrough was through her debut hit single "Aiwa" in her album Ma Rulez.

[edit] Overview

Darine is of a Lebanese father and half-Hungarian, half-Romanian mother. She grew a passion for R&B and hip hop music and honed her singing skills to pursue her career in producing and performing such music. As she got her breakthrough in 2004 with her debut hit single "Aiwa", Darine was thought to be a one-hit-wonder but she came to a time with two successful albums in account.

Darine's "Aiwa" got popular for the simple lyrics, heavy hip hop beat roations along with sounds of Oriental string instruments. The song was released in summer 2004, produced by EMI music Arabia & PRO Music. Darine resides and is a citizen of Sweden. She claims that though the fact that most her music is directed to Hip-Hop, R&B loving Arab audience, Sweden was a good place to cultivate her talent where she ended up with her buddy producer, SoulClap.

After the success of the first single, Darine released her album Ma Rulez, which included two versions of the song "Aiwa" along with 18 new tracks. The album included "Ja Leily" which is pronounced "Ya Leily". This was Darine's second single, but the music video had a different version of the previously included track in the album.

Surprisingly enough, Darine relaunched a music video for her first hit "Aiwa", which didn't get good reception as the track already had a video. The broadcast of the new music video didn't last long. In the outro found on Ma Rulez, Darine gives a special thanks and states she's been working with SoulClap on the second album ever since.
