[edit] Draft

Daniher was recruited from Calder Cannons in Victoria, in the 2007 AFL National Draft. He was selected by the Essendon Football Club with its third round selection (39th overall) as a father son in recognition of Darcy's dad - Anthony Daniher - playing for the club.

[edit] Essendon

Darcy endured a tough start to his career after injuring his shoulder (minor sublux of shoulder - where shoulder pops out and then pops back in its socket again) at training, after accidentally colliding with forward Matthew Lloyd.
